So, I have finished the first project. The chest started out oak (no picture) and then I moved it to the bathroom, put a coat of Kilz on it and two coats of V@alspar paint in Chocolate Turtle.
Project #2 is the desk/vanity thing. I'm not sure why I love it so much, but I do!
After it was sanded, I washed it again and I have the first coat of paint on. If all goes as planned, I'll do another coat after Maggie and Ellie are in bed tonight. We have sort of a busy day tomorrow, so I'm not sure when it will find a home in the master bedroom. Luckily, there's plenty of room for it and two cars in the garage!

LOVE it!!! Love DIY posts! That desk/vanity IS too cool. I think you love it because it is just so feminine and let's face it - solid wood furniture is hard to come by these days (usually stuff is particle board) and is just so beautiful.
Cool, can't wait to see how it turns out!
I hope you have an electric sander. That looks like some real work otherwise. Like Joy said, it does look feminine and I'm sure will look good as new when you get done with it.
Good job! I really like the vanity! It is very feminine and looks really elegant! I have a vanity and chest of drawers that is part of the first BR suit that Grandma and Grandpa bought after they married in 1939! I've go to find a good spot to display them!
