What I Learned This Week

I'm participating in the "What I Learned This Week" carnival over at Musings of a Housewife again this week.

  • Going to a birthday party for a four year old can easily be the highlight of your week...especially when your three year old has been asking, "You think today we're going to the birthday party today?" for over a week.
  • Getting to go to said birthday party and spend a little time with an old high school friend can totally make living back in your hometown seem just a little bit better.
  • A crying baby + a chit-chatty toddler + Kenny Chesney + my SUV = running a stop sign at an intersection I've been through at least a 100,00 times completely possible.
  • There's never enough hours in the day to accomplish all that I want to.
  • I have so many pictures of The Muffin and not so many of Baby Ellie...and this makes me so sad.
  • Baby Ellie's cloth diapers make me feel good.
  • No matter how much sleep I get, it never seems like enough.
  • Baby Ellie loves me. She decided not to continue her "lets-stay-up-for-two-hours-playing-while-we-should-be-sleeping" thing.
  • The Muffin is smart. Too smart.
  • Big Daddy knows all sorts of useless, yet informative facts about Magnum, PI thanks to a new fan site he found. He's planning our "Magnum" tour of Hawaii for after he gets his MBA.
  • Realizing that your first ever favorite little girl in the first ever preschool class that you taught all those years ago is now a senior in high school can make you feel so much older than 32.

I can so relate to that last one! On Sunday I happened to see the parents of a little girl I taught years ago in 1st grade. That "little girl" is now a senior in college! Yikes!! At least it was somewhat comforting to hear that she's studying to be an early elementary teacher herself!

You have learned a lot! I think I've run a stopsign before or at least when I slammed on brakes to stop, I was already in the intersection so I kept going. Glad no one was coming and you are all safe!!

Thank goodness for friends. They just know how to brighten up days. I'm with you on not having enough time, if I didn't need or love sleep so much, think of all the things I could get done.

I like reading what you'ved learned! It makes me realize we can learn so much from kids, and from the little things in life! Have a great day... :)

I ran a stop sign once when my mother in law was in the car. Embarrassing! Looks like a great week of learning!

i think every mom has run a stop sign when distracted by a screaming baby!
at least it wasn't a stop light!

If only you had a penny for every time you were asked about the party, huh? :)

I think the first one often gets a little bit more attention... the crowd asks for a family photo!

I so relate to the last one! And the first one, too!
My little guy just had his pirate party and asked for about a SOLID GOLD MONTH when it was going to get here.
And the kids I babysat in college and who were in our wedding as children are IN COLLEGE. One has graduated. Old, indeed.

I have lots of photos of my first one, not so many of my middle daughter, and lots of my youngest - because by then I went digital, and then got my Canon.

Great lessons.

Oh no! I thought you were going to say you got a ticket too.

And I hear ya on sleep. I love to sleep.
